President Donald Trump and officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security have announced that the deadline for compliance with REAL ID Act requirements, originally set to take effect on October 1, would be postponed until October 1, 2021.
The REAL ID Act established additional security standards for forms of personal identification used to access federal facilities and power plants and to board commercial aircraft. Under the REAL ID Act, travelers will need to present a REAL ID-compliant license or other form of identification before boarding.
